Information for designers
Depending on the electric circuit an electric power module has several switches of protection circuit and control scheme. At present time “Kontur” JSC produces electronic power modules for up to 400 A currents and commutable voltage up to 1700 V, when working frequency range is equal to 15-20 Hz (IGBT) and for up to 580 A currents at voltage equal to 800 V and working frequency range – to up to 50 kHz (MOSFET) as well as diode and thyristor modules (see nomenclature tables).
Electronic power modules are used:
· in frequency converters;
· in secondary and no-break power supply;
· in induction heat plant;
· in welding equipment;
· as a switching cell in the electrics unit;
· as equivalent of import analogs.
Application of electronic power modules permits:
· to provide high reliability of electric equipment performance at the expense of keeping an optimal mode of schemes supply and absence of unreliable and bulky mechanical and electromechanical assemblies;
· to realize control over “switch-off – switch-on” transient process in optimal mode sparing mechanisms at most and providing minimal surges into supply main;
· minimize or prevent the consequences of emergency mode of operation of the equipment (electrical motor winding burnout as a result of shaft seizure or short circuits, overload of supply main or absence of phase) by quick and safety disconnection;
· to increase, at the expense of optimal control, endurance of electric motors, wormers, lamps and that of other actuators, to considerably increase their performance;
· to have high indices of energy-saving at the expense of energy consumption optimization.
Operating conditions:
For safe performance of the electric power modules the following operating conditions are recommended:
· operating voltage crest should make less than 80%, and operating direct voltage – 50-60% from voltage taxonomic value of collector-emitter;
· repeating pick current should make less than 80% from direct current taxonomic value of Ik-collector. One-fold overcurrent should not exceed 21c when pulse duration is equal to 1 mc;
· duration of eightfold 8Ik overload current flow through each module transistor should not exceed 10 mcs;
· crystal temperature should not exceed 1200 C, base temperature – less than 800 C;
· when switching-off a converter, first, voltage supply is delivered to the control system and drivers and than to the modules. When switching-off, voltage supply dump is realized in reverse order.
Module connection
When connecting module to the circuit following requirements should be met:
1. Operating voltage crest in the circuits should make less than 80% and operating direct voltage – 50-60% from voltage taxonomic value of collector-emitter.
2. Repeating pick current should make less than 80% from direct current taxonomic value of Ic-collector. One-fold overcurrent should not exceed 21c when pulse duration is equal to 1 mc.
3. Duration of eightfold (8Ik) overload current flow through each module transistor should not exceed 10 mcs.
4. Crystal temperature should not exceed 1200 C, base temperature – less than 800 C.
5. When switching-off a converter, first, voltage supply is delivered to the control system and drivers and than to the modules. When switching-off, voltage supply dump is realized in reverse order.
