Unuversal Vitractor
The Universal Vitractor is intended to perform the procedure of front or rear vitrectomy of eye. This procedure consists in partial or complete ablating of the vitreous body and replacement by gas or liquid compatible with eye tissues. The vitractor ablates pathological masses, foreign bodies, healing tissues or blood out of the vitreous body or ablates completely the vitreous body out of the eye. The vitractor is used for treatment of a number of eye diseases such as diabetic retinopathy, retinal detachment, retinal rupture, central vision degeneration, intraocular bleeding, intraocular infection, and for treatment of postoperative complications and various traumatic injuries connected with retinal blood supply disturbance and intraocular bleeding. Due to vitrectomy visual functions of the eye are in most cases partially or completely rehabilitated. Component parts of the vitractor: - needle and knife, functioning on principles of guillotine cutting, which allow cutting and ablating pathological masses of retinal tissues. The knife has a thin electrolytic chromium-coating. They are not toxic for the organism, don’t cause any allergic reaction, don’t irritate muscular tissue, don’t cause living tissues damage. The main needle parameters are – length and diameter. Vitractors with needles length 26,5 mm are used for anterior segment surgery operations, with needles length 30,5 mm – for posterior segment surgery operation. The needle diameters: 0.9 mm, 0.6 mm, 0.5 mm. - internal mechanism including a spring used to set the knife in motion; - handle, made of anodized aluminum or plastic; - set of hoses made of silicone or polyvinylchloride, with cut-off points on their ends for connecting instruments to the surgical machine. The vitractor is packed in a plastic tray protecting it from damage during transportation, then it is packed in a special packet made of material «tyvek» on one side and transparent film on the other side.
